Why is it"grim" that we are enforcing the law? Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "dig 'em up and kill 'em again" types, I take no pleasure in reading or hearing about someone being executed, but it is their own actions that put them there. 1000 people in nearly 30 years...let's see that's 33.3333333333333333333333333 333333333 people a year. In a nation of 300 million that doesn't seem like a lot. I read somewhere that at their current pace of executions, it would take 900 years to execute all the people currently on death row in California alone. Many of those people will die of old age. Michael Moore's "Minutemen" kill 9. Nevada teacher under fire for teaching early American History i.e. Jefferson, Madison, the Constitution, you know, that stuff. All I've heard about regarding Abramoff and corruption is Conrad Burns (R) Mt. Conrad Burns, Conrad Burns, Conrad Burns and some other republican (or republicans) whose name (or names) escape me. I knew it was only a matter of time until a Democrat was exposed as possibly snaring themselves in Abramoff's tentacles:To wit:North Dakota Democrat Byron Dorgan, who heads up the Senate investigation into Jack Abramoff, says there's no connection between the nearly $20,000 he received from the scandal-plagued lobbyist's firm in 2002 and a letter he signed earlier that year urging his colleagues to fund a program backed by Abramoff's clients. The AP reports that Dorgan received nearly $95,000 from Abramoff's firm or his clients between 2001 and 2004. But Dorgan has blasted the story, saying he never met Abramoff, did not know about the donations from the lobbyist's clients and sees no reason to step aside from the investigation. I wonder if that means republicans will be frothing to the press about the"culture of corruption" in the democratic party?I Doubt it. After all, they are "The Spineless Party" and largely clueless on how to score cheap political talking points. Hillary Rodham Clinton, star of ABC's Tuesday Night political drama "Hillary in Chief" puts a gentle spin on her Iraq War "Yes" vote and demands that we finish the war. The New York Times is forced into reporting good economic news... NYT: The economy appears to be doing great but it is not that simple. Does bookish little snot merchant Harry Reid (D) Nevada know something the rest of us don't? Peace Activists kidnapped in Iraq. Arlen Specter is an idiot for even bringing this up. He's obviously not a football fan. Part of me thinks it is good that congress gets involved in trivia such as steroids in sports and other miscellaneous drivel as it keeps them away from us.As if he could wave a magic wand...Stupid Headline of the Day:Bush offers no date for Iraq victoryMore good news from Iraq:Absenteeism has significantly declined in the Iraqi security forces. A U.S. Defense Department report said absenteeism in the Iraqi military dropped to an average of between one and four percent. The Pentagon report, however, said the absenteeism rate could rise during combat operations. And finally! How to spot a rich guy...

Review and Comment on the News 11/29/05
Global Warming (which we now know has been established as a terrorist act) sweeps across the Plains States. Canada throws out it's Gubba'mint. I'm shocked to find out there are conservatives in Canada. School aroma sends school into panic, it was probably the broccoli-strawberry- raisin-anchovie-artichoke heart-liver spongecake being served up in the school cafeteria for dessert. The story about Iraq that most Americans will never read or hear about. Unless the ACLUseless steps in, a padded cell should await this monstrous wad... Too bad there aren't more Democrats like Joe Liebermann. Lieberman points out that we can't leave Iraq as it will become a war between 27 million Iraqis and 10,000 terrorists. I can't believe this man ran on the same ticket with Gore in 2000.Quote of the Day, Joe Lieberman(D) on Iraq:I have just returned from my fourth trip to Iraq in the past 17 months and can report real progress there. More work needs to be done, of course, but the Iraqi people are in reach of a watershed transformation from the primitive, killing tyranny of Saddam to modern, self-governing, self-securing nationhood--unless the great American military that has given them and us this unexpected opportunity is prematurely withdrawn. Progress is visible and practical. In the Kurdish North, there is continuing security and growing prosperity. The primarily Shiite South remains largely free of terrorism, receives much more electric power and other public services than it did under Saddam, and is experiencing greater economic activity. The Sunni triangle, geographically defined by Baghdad to the east, Tikrit to the north and Ramadi to the west, is where most of the terrorist enemy attacks occur. And yet here, too, there is progress. There are many more cars on the streets, satellite television dishes on the roofs, and literally millions more cell phones in Iraqi hands than before. All of that says the Iraqi economy is growing. And Sunni candidates are actively campaigning for seats in the National Assembly. People are working their way toward a functioning society and economy in the midst of a very brutal, inhumane, sustained terrorist war against the civilian population and the Iraqi and American military there to protect it. As I've said before it seems the"Joe Lieberman Wing" of the Democratic Party consists exclusively of Joe Lieberman. War of Words escalates over Iraq: Kerry says Hastert called Murtha a coward, Hastert denies calling Murtha a coward. That tears it !! I'm telling Mom!!Kerry, the Democratic nominee for president in 2004 who was savaged by a conservative political group that questioned his Vietnam War service, said the Republican attack machine had set its sights on Murtha, and noted: "Dennis Hastert - the Speaker of the House who never served - accused Jack Murtha of being a coward." However, Hastert's first response to Murtha, D-Pa., while blistering, never explicitly called Murtha a coward. Neither did a subsequent Internet blog, in which Hastert, R-Ill., softened his remarks considerably. "I need everyone to understand that I have known Congressman (John) Murtha a long time," Hastert wrote just before Thanksgiving. "He's a good man. I have the utmost respect for him. In fact, I'm pretty sure he knows that. I disagreed with the pullout plan he announced last week." But Hastert's initial response to Murtha's withdrawal announcement accused him and the Democratic Party of adopting a policy of "cut and run." Furthermore, Hastert said Murtha and the Democrats "want us to retreat. They want us to wave the white flag of surrender to the terrorists of the world." And he said, "We must not cower like European nations who are now fighting terrorists on their soil." More nuance from Senator Kerry (who was in Vietnam) follows:A spokeswoman for Kerry said the senator was reacting to Hastert's use of the word " cower" and said that the speaker and other Republican Party leaders "were all calling (Murtha) a coward." Groan...Quote of the Day II Neal Boortz:Boortz encapsulates the main reason I don't get all bent out of shape about political corruption: Only one side's collective feet are held to the fire....California Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham held a press conference yesterday and announced he would be resigning from Congress and he apologized for taking bribes from defense contractors. Apparently he thought nobody would notice his mansion, yacht and Rolls Royce on a $160,000 a year salary. Not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. He's facing a maximum of 10 years in the slammer with sentencing scheduled for February 27, but you can bet he'll do nowhere near that amount of time. He's obviously cut a deal and he'll get a reduced sentence. House Minority Leader and aging San Francisco hippie Nancy Pelosi immediately jumped all over the announcement, saying the whole thing "is just the latest example of the culture of corruption that pervades the Republican-controlled Congress, which ignores the needs of the American people to serve wealthy special interests and their cronies." Oh really. Cunningham deserves to go straight to the slammer...but those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Are we supposed to believe there is no corruption on the other side of the aisle? Would Nancy Pelosi like for people to recount the Democratic scandals over the years? Just how many Clinton associates were convicted of corruption? What about the Clinton pardons? Do we need a refresher course on Whitewater and Casa Grande? How about James Traficant....the former Democratic congressman currently sitting in a prison cell for bribery, racketeering and tax evasion? There's plenty to go around. And watch the media on this one. They will go out of their way to point out that Cunningham is a Republican, yet would bury the party affiliation were he a Democrat. Let's not talk about the investigations regarding Chuck Schumer (D) New York or the bookish little snot merchant Harry Reid (D) Nevada. That would hurt the cause...

Enema of the State: Democrat and Anti-war activist Ramsey Clark comes to Saddam's defense. Shocker: Bookish little snot merchant Harold Reid (D) Nevada, Dick Durbin (D) Ill., Hank Dean (D) Europa and Co. work their magic:Washington Post Poll:Democrats fumed last week at Vice President Cheney's suggestion that criticism of the administration's war policies was itself becoming a hindrance to the war effort. But a new poll indicates most Americans are sympathetic to Cheney's point. Seventy percent of people surveyed said that criticism of the war by Democratic senators hurts troop morale -- with 44 percent saying morale is hurt "a lot," according to a poll taken by RT Strategies. Even self-identified Democrats agree: 55 percent believe criticism hurts morale, while 21 percent say it helps morale. Their poll also indicates many Americans are skeptical of Democratic complaints about the war. Just three of 10 adults accept that Democrats are leveling criticism because they believe this will help U.S. efforts in Iraq. A majority believes the motive is really to "gain a partisan political advantage." Just when you lose faith in the ability of the American people to see through bullshit...Britain's top climate scientist adopts Gore's contention that Global Warming is worse than terrorism. Yes, global warming caused the foot of snow outside my house and should be considered a terrorist act. Bucking the system: Bruce Willis plans to make an Iraq War movie that casts our men and women in a positive light. Boy is he in deep shit, his name will be stricken from the Screen Actors Guild cocktail party list post haste, he will be boycotted and suffer much the same ridicule that Mel Gibson received for his Passion of the Christ movie last year.Quote of the Day, Bruce Willis:"I was over there," Willis recently told MSNBC's Rita Cosby. "I am baffled to understand why the things that I saw happening in Iraq, really good things happening in Iraq, are not being reported on." Willis has been to Iraq himself and said he intends to return shortly. "What I saw over there is not reflected in the news whatsoever," he told MSNBC. "You know, the coalition forces there are getting the power turned back on. They`re getting the schools opened up. They`re getting hospitals opened back up." The Hollywood conservative said U.S. forces have done a tremendous job in beginning to establish a modern society for the Iraqi people - "not to mention winning the war." Willis, who has personally offered $1 million for information leading to the capture or killing of Osama Bin Laden, Ayman Al-Zawahiri or Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, said the Iraq war was really no different from World War II. "This is the same fight the US fought 60 years ago,” he declared. My prediction: This movie will not even be made, and if it does it will receive no backing from any studio and as a result theatre chains will not show it and at best it will go directly to DVD. Bruce will be a pariah at next year's Ocsars, Robbins, Saradon, Clooney and other "Overseers" will see to that and boycott him. How dare he!! He may be a pariah already I don't know as I never watch that self-congratulatory puke fest anyway. This on the other hand will probably be backed to the hilt by the powers that be. Just watch.A picture is worth a thousand words:Cindy, your 15 minutes of fame were used up long ago: No one attends "Droopy the Peace Queen Hive Mother's" book signing.

Harsh?: CNN switchboard operator was fired for suggesting "X" over Cheney was free speech. I must admit I've not paid a whole lot of attention to Pat Buchanon, I've never liked the guy, most of what I've heard and read from him has rapidly dropped off my radar screen, as I recall, he's been bitching about the Iraq War since it's inception, (though he has cheered the successes of the Iraqi elections.) His endless puling about "American Imperialism" has contributed to the timbre of the debate today and has led us to this pass. I'm not implying he should shut up or that he's unpatriotic, he should just be careful what he wishes for, he may have gotten it.

Canadian Minister of Defense believes we are being visited by beings from other worlds, warns of Intergalactic War and wants hearings. I have a feeling Howard Dean is host to a Goa'uld symbiote. "They stole our land": A Politically Correct "Unthanksgiving" was inevitable I suppose, never mind the fact that they have the same ability to purchase property and the same opprotunities that anyone else in this country has. Bruce Thornton dispels many of the myths of the American Indian here, pointing out that mystifying them ultimately does them a disservice, they raped, tortured and committed genocide, engaged in cannibalism, sacked, plundered and pillaged natural resources, drove various species to extinction and had callous disregard for their surroundings, just like anyone else who has ever walked the Earth anywhere at any time in human history. Susan Saradon, Tim Robbins and the usual collective of Hollywood Leftists call on Ahhnold for clemency regarding the execution of the founder of the "Crips", all the more reason to grease him if you ask me. I don't care if he has written children's books, he killed four people and started a cancer that has swept through California and the United States and has claimed untold thousands of lives through the drug trade and gang violence, you can't go anywhere without seeing some stain of their influence. Have you ever noticed that they keep some of these guys on Death Row so long that they become soft, wizened, fatherly or even grandfatherly sympathetic characters? I'm pleased that he has tried to undo some of the damage that he has done but it doesn't alter the fact that he is a murderer. This is why I call them (my party) The Spineless Party.... To wit:The Republican majority in the House of Representatives got out of Washington last weekend for the long Thanksgiving holiday without passing a pending tax bill. It was not just the congressional tendency to put off doing today what can be postponed until tomorrow. There were not enough Republican votes to pass a quintessentially Republican tax bill. The reasons are profoundly disturbing. A goodly number of GOP House members have bought into the Democratic mantra that investment tax cuts, the backbone of economic recovery, are unfair to ordinary Americans. Having narrowly passed a very modest curtailment of federal spending for the poor, the Republicans flinched at being accused of passing tax cuts for the rich. The leadership plans to take up the tax bill when Congress reconvenes in December, guessing that holiday turkey and relaxation will have ended last week's recalcitrance. Ugh. All the democrats have to do when they oppose anything is say: "It only benefits the Rich", it's amazing how much traction those 5 little words have. Padding his resume: New Mexico Governor admits he wasn't a baseball pick. That's it. Execute him. Bush kills Arnold from "Happy Days." Mixed Signals?: First they want a timetable on withdrawal then they say a pullout will lead to violence. The Left is silent: No Fresh Steaming Pantload of the Day or Enema of the State, the democrats must be at home teetering under the iron fist of triptophan. We have to figure out a way to get it into their drinking water. "The Crying Game" Victor Davis Hanson.....worth reading.Quote of the Day, Victor Davis Hanson:"The president misled us." "Still no WMDs." "If I had only known then what I do now…" This is the intellectual level of Democratic wartime criticism about the Bush administration as we near the third Iraqi election — the one that will finally give faces to the first truly elected parliamentary government in the Arab world. So what is behind this crying game at home — when we are so close to achieving our goals abroad?

Ditch dwellers gather in Texas. Leftists want fewer troops in Iraq, Centrist McCain wants more. Secret CIA Dentention Centers in Eastern Europe turn out to be research facilities for unlocking the secrets behind ancient alien hyper-dimensional portals. Happy now Mr. Leaker? Halliburton shareholder and porcine propagandist Michael Moore's "Minutemen" kill key Sunni leader in Iraq. Moore, the amply wattled shareholder/filmmaker and Iraq War profiteer also pens a very weak, tepid pedestrian open letter to President Bush on his website and is today's Fresh, Steaming Pantload:Dear Mr. Bush: I would like to extend my hand and invite you to join us, the Mainstream American Media. We, the media -- that's the majority of the media -- share these majority opinions: 1. Going to war was a mistake -- a big mistake. (CNN poll - 54%) 2. You and your administration misled us into this war. (Newsweek poll - 52%) 3. We want the war ended and our troops brought home. (CBS News poll - 50% leave ASAP) 4. We don't trust you. (Washington Post poll - 58%) 5. Sorry - vote.com and polls taken from the right-wing media don't count. This week, when Republicans and conservative Democrats started jumping ship, you lashed out at them. You thought the most damning thing you could say to them was that they were "endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party." The whole statement was, "Congressman Murtha is a respected veteran and politician who has a record of supporting a strong America. So it is baffling that he is endorsing the policy positions of Michael Moore and the extreme liberal wing of the Democratic party." I twisted it around to make it look like you were lashing out at a lot of people. The liberals go for that kind of stuff. So Hitler, with your Nazi-style authoritarianism, why not cut out the name-calling and the smearing and just do the obvious thing: Come join the Mainstream Media! Be one of us, your fellow Americans! Is it really that hard? Is there really any other choice? George, take a walk on the wild side! I know that this letter is supposed to be some sort of insightful, riveting hit piece, but to me it has all of the excitement and grandeur of the arrival of a new phonebook. It reads like a sophmore's letter to the school paper. The fact that he twists people's words around (and admits to it) is well documented and evidenced by the fact that dozens of people who have appeared in his cut and paste Reifenstalesque agit-prop flicks are suing him. He calls on Bush to "cut out the name calling and smearing" then refers to him as Hitler, describes Vote.com as "right-wing media" whilst ignoring the established political leanings of the Washington Post, CNN and CBS News. I guess I just expected more razor intellect from a man who commands the kind of shimmering awe and adulation that he does. Michael, in the words of Dennis Miller, you are nothing more than "a sanctimonious, prevaricating mancow." And Michael, this Thanksgiving, let your family have some of the turkey for a change. On to other things... Progress: Rice says Iraq troop levels may draw down. European Watchdog Group Steps up CIA Probe. Anytime you see the word "Watchdog" you know it's a splinter group for the ACLUseless. After the skyrocketing gas prices, all the handwringing and the obscene profits from "Big Oil" we still get this. And this: Consumer sentiment brightens. Oh the poor dear, somebody help him. If I don't get back here tomorrow: Happy Thanksgiving!!Emergency (Holiday) Football Picks: Atlanta beats DetriotDenver beats Dallas...

Zarqawi may be dead. That would be a huge blow to Halliburton shareholder and number one Iraq War Profiteer Michael Moore and Cindy "it's just a little wind and rain" Sheehan. All the careful work, the tender machinations. US "accidentally" killed civilians, of course Sheehan, Kucinich, et. al. know better.Woodward committed a journalistic sin.... not implicating a republican:
Legendary Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward is in the dog house. Held up for decades by the left as the patron saint of Watergate, Woodward has fallen out of favor with liberals over his role in the Valerie Plame case. So what did Bob do?
He simply kept the promise not to reveal his source, until he absolutely had to. I thought that was supposed to be the honorable thing to do...because journalists are protected by the First Amendment and all. But that's not why Democrats are hopping mad at Woodward.
It's because he's screwing up their political witch-hunt of the Bush administration. Because of Woodward's admission, it makes more plausible Scooter Libby's defense that he heard about Valerie Plame from journalists. Patrick Fitzgerald's case is now weakened. He says he's going to press on with it...but it's more doubtful he'll get a conviction.
So who was Woodward's source? He's not saying...but Karl Rove says it wasn't him and now there's word today it wasn't Dick Cheney.
The whole Valerie Plame (non) affair is getting weaker and weaker. And the left couldn't be more upset.
A frightening show of hands. The never ending search for those secret CIA prisons, maybe George Cloooney knows. If something goes wrong in America it is because Bush cuts the budget, yet the left is also criticizing him because his spending is out of control. Must be nice to spew it both ways and get away with it. Uh oh. U.S. to reduce troop levels after December elections, is that "immediate" enough for Murtha? That was quite a bit of political theatre on Friday, eh? They (the left) had their chance to put their demands for immediate withdrawal to a vote and punted. I guess they need an issue in '06. This would be bigger news if they were anti-American demonstrations: 200,000 protest... Al-Queda!! Zarqawi had an "oops sorry" tape released Friday stating that they didn't mean to kill so many Jordanians. What the f**k do you expect to happen when you blow up a hotel in Jordan? The law of averages states that you will probably kill more Jordanians than anyone else. You see Zarqawi thought that they (Jordanians) would blame America for the attacks. Didn't work. Of course the Kos types on the protest left will do the work for him.
Blame this on the war. Or (the non-existant) Budget cuts....
"We heard at least three or four shots go off and we knew it was serious," a woman who had been shopping in the mall with her husband and children told a television news station.
I would think one shot would have driven home the gravity of the situation, but that's just me.
For a brief shining moment the GOP pulls it's collective head out of it's collective digestive tract...
This is the first good move the GOP has made politically in quite a while. Pushing for a vote on troop withdrawal now is just the right counter to Murtha, that "hawkish Democrat" who has become the media's latest star performer. Case in point is the AP story linked above, which one reader accurately noted reads more like "something from the DNC." This paragraph in particular bothered me:
Some members of the House and Senate, looking ahead to off-year elections next November, are publicly worrying about a quagmire there. They have been staking out new positions on the war that has grown increasingly unpopular with the American public, resulted in more than 2,000 U.S. military deaths and cost more than $200 billion.
This kind of negative framing of the conflict is exactly what these Marines were talking about when they criticized the press coverage of the war. Count it as yet another "Marine Out Eight Bucks" moment (follow the link for an explanation).
Can't blame Bush? Ignore it! Bobby Mugabe. Saddam's lawless legacy hampers command structure. Sounds a little like the mob....
Officials said Iraqi military commanders have refused to impose discipline in their units and enabled absentee soldiers to receive salaries. They said the reluctance of the commanders stems from fear of retaliation by penalized soldiers and their families.
Gas prices continue to drop, can't find a link anywhere, must not be news. Can't blame evil oil companies, Halliburton or neocons.

Review and Comment on the News 11/17/05
Bravo!! About time...Cheney hits back. Will the Spineless Party in the Senate stand with him? Uh oh, Leftists! Woodward's testimony refutes the prosecutor's charge that I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby is focus of all evil on this planet. Donald Rumsfield uses the past statements of Senate democrats and William Jefferson Blythe Clinton against them.
"We've got men and women serving in Iraq, risking their lives on the one hand and on the other hand, we have people suggesting that the reason we're there was because the president decided to go in based on information that was unique to him," the defense secretary said. "And it wasn't unique to him. The information that he based his decision on was the same information that President Clinton and the previous administration had. It's the same information members of the House and Senate had."
Secretary Rumsfeld continues:
In December 1998, Mr. Clinton ordered five days of bombing against Iraqi military targets. He explained why in a nationally televised speech: "Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors. Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons. ... I have no doubt today that, left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again. ... The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government."
Sounds suspiciously like the Clinton Administration supported a policy that can be boiled down to a quaint little phrase that our friends on the Left like to ridicule...Regime Change!!
Ironically, the only person to use the word "imminent" with regards to Saddam was a Senate Democrat, one J. Rockefeller. Of course he will skate as he is a member of the Anointed Party. I think I like Tom Daschle better than Harry Reid, I never thought I'd say that. And I despised Tom Daschle. Al-Queda suspect arrested in Mexico. Time for a good old fashioned "necktie party." Whew!! Al Gore invented it, so we should be able to retain oversight of it.
From Boortz.com:
Former FBI Director Louis Freeh wants to know why the 9/11 Commission ignored 'Able Danger.' Freeh says the 9/11 Commission itself are the ones that need to be behind the witness table. New documents show Saddam was making preparations to hide his Weapons of Mass Destruction prior to the U.S. invasion. These same documents also show his ties to Al-Qaeda...before 9/11. Looks like the entire Democratic party's argument against the war just went out the window. A recent poll shows that only 2 percent of blacks approve of President Bush's performance. Larry Elder says that if only blacks new the true history of the Democratic party, that number would be much higher. Ain't that the truth? According to Deroy Murdock the KKK acted as the Democrat Party's shock troops, Robert "Bobby" "Sheets" Byrd (D) West Virginia was it's Grand Wizard years ago, yet republicans are the "racist party."
Ants eat woman's eye in India. Enema of the State: Wait until Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D) Mass.ive Quantities of Scotch gets a few belts in him and waddles to a microphone with this. He will imply that the Iraqis learned from the Americans about torture and the fever swamps at Kos and DU will echo his sentiments for days. Bad news for Cindy "it's only a little wind and rain" Sheehan and Michael Moore. Fresh, Steaming Pantload of the Day: French unrest falls to "normal" levels, meaning only about 100 vehicles are being torched every night. I could live with that. See? Dialogue works.
Quote of the Day, Democratic Underground.com:
itzamirakul: I don't believe the "failed bomber" woman woman was involved at all...I think this is just one more staged event by BushCo..

Spineless Party develops spine and defeats the insurgent Enema of the State in the United States Senate.

Senate Democrats were doing the work of the Islamic jihadists yesterday ... right there on the floor of the United States Senate. Led by Michigan's Carl Levin, these loyal Democrats tried to force President Bush to engage in a staged surrender to Islamic terrorist "insurgents" in Iraq. The idea was to force George Bush to set a virtual timetable for withdrawal from Iraq.
Clinton says Iraq invasion was a big mistake, that is not the signal he was sending the world about Saddam in the '90s. A quick Google Search yields these results...(Hat tip, Michelle Malkin) Clinton: Iraq has abused it's last chance.

Clinton signs Iraq Liberation Act. The Clinton view of Iraq Al-Queda ties in '98.Of course he can get away with this duplicity as he is a member of the Anointed Party. Another Bush atrocity: FEMA to stop paying for evacuees hotels. A new Iron Curtain? EU sets up spy satellites, ooh. Dream on Putz, it'll never happen as long as we have Senate Democrats and Moderate Republicans to nurse maid us through these difficult times. The real reason Wal Mart is evil. Land grabs... "Droopy the Peace Queen Hive Mother" to insert herself into the news cycle over the Thanksgiving Holiday. How cold does it get in Texas in November? Quote of the Day, Vice President Cheney:
CHENEY FIGHTS BACK Wed Nov 16 2005 18:56:46 ET
Excerpts As Prepared For Delivery Tonight by Vice President Cheney
THE VICE PRESIDENT: "As most of you know, I have spent a lot of years in public service, and first came to work in Washington, D.C. back in the late 1960s. I know what it’s like to operate in a highly charged political environment, in which the players on all sides of an issue feel passionately and speak forcefully.
In such an environment people sometimes lose their cool, and yet in Washington you can ordinarily rely on some basic measure of truthfulness and good faith in the conduct of political debate. But in the last several weeks we have seen a wild departure from that tradition.
And the suggestion that’s been made by some U. S. senators that the President of the United States or any member of this Administration purposely misled the American people on pre-war intelligence is one of the most dishonest and reprehensible charges ever aired in this city...
Some of the most irresponsible comments have, of course, come from politicians who actually voted in favor of authorizing force against Saddam Hussein. These are elected officials who had access to the intelligence, and were free to draw their own conclusions.
They arrived at the same judgment about Iraq’s capabilities and intentions that was made by this Administration and by the previous Administration. There was broad-based, bipartisan agreement that Saddam Hussein was a threat … that he had violated U.N. Security Council Resolutions … and that, in a post-9/11 world, we couldn’t afford to take the word of a dictator who had a history of WMD programs, who had excluded weapons inspectors, who had defied the demands of the international community, who had been designated an official state sponsor of terror, and who had committed mass murder.
Those are facts.
What we’re hearing now is some politicians contradicting their own statements and making a play for political advantage in the middle of a war. The saddest part is that our people in uniform have been subjected to these cynical and pernicious falsehoods day in and day out. American soldiers and Marines are out there every day in dangerous conditions and desert temperatures – conducting raids, training Iraqi forces, countering attacks, seizing weapons, and capturing killers – and back home a few opportunists are suggesting they were sent into battle for a lie.
The President and I cannot prevent certain politicians from losing their memory, or their backbone – but we’re not going to sit by and let them rewrite history.
We’re going to continue throwing their own words back at them. And far more important, we’re going to continue sending a consistent message to the men and women who are fighting the war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan, and many other fronts.
We can never say enough how much we appreciate them, and how proud they make us. They and their families can be certain: That this cause is right … and the performance of our military has been brave and honorable … and this nation will stand behind our fighting forces with pride and without wavering until the day of victory.
