Carnival of Asshats:

Senate to conduct hearings into Global Warming's role in
wildfires:

Following the devastating fires in Southern California, the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming will hold a hearing examining the scientific link between a changing climate and the frequency and intensity of wildfires.

Witnesses (Uncle Albert to the stand) will discuss the present effects of climate change on wildfires and contributing factors such as increased drought, changes in snowmelt patterns, changes in precipitation, and higher temperatures.  In addition, mitigation and adaptation strategies will be discussed.

Meanwhile back at the ranch:

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) - Officials blamed a wildfire that consumed more than 38,000 acres and destroyed 21 homes last week on a boy playing with matches, and said they would ask a prosecutor to consider the case.

The boy, whose name and age were not released, admitted to sparking the fire on Oct. 21, Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Diane Hecht said Tuesday. Ferocious winds helped it quickly spread.

"He admitted to playing with matches and accidentally starting the fire," Hecht said in a statement.

If Friends of the Earth ever get a hold of his name..... Naomi Campbell is the latest in a growing list of celebrities to kiss Chavez' ring:

British supermodel Naomi Campbell met privately with President Hugo Chavez on Tuesday, becoming the latest in a series of celebrities hosted by the Venezuelan leader.
Last month, Chavez met in Caracas with American actor Kevin Spacey, who praised the Venezuelan government's efforts to support film-making. The Venezuelan President also has hosted recent visits by Hollywood stars including Sean Penn and Danny Glover.

The Big Question is, which Democratic Presidential Candidate will he endorse?

This comes as no surprise:

Asked about the statement by actress Shirley MacLaine that Kucinich had seen a UFO at her house, Kucinich said that he had. He quickly sought to clarify -- an "unidentified flying object" he said holding up his hand -- but man oh man.

Why the need to clarify Dennis? Isn't that what UFO stands for?

HitlerBurton W. McChimpstein dares to chastise "The People's Congress":

President Bush on Tuesday slammed Congress for not getting its work done and focusing too much on investigating his administration and repeatedly attempting to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq.

That's all they were elected to do...just ask them...

“We’re near the end of the year, and there really isn’t much to show for it,” Bush told reporters following a meeting with House GOP leaders.

Which isn't all bad...

Nation of Warmongers!

52% of Americans want "Illegal airstrikes for oil" against Iran:

A majority of likely voters – 52% – would support a U.S. military strike to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon, and 53% believe it is likely that the U.S. will be involved in a military strike against Iran before the next presidential election, a new Zogby America telephone poll shows.

Ron Paulers engage in the political process:

Ron Paul supporters (college kids) are trying to raise money by
playing the Halo 3 video game for 12 hours a day, seven days a week and broadcasting the gaming sessions over the Internet.

Maybe Kucinich saw the UFO online after an epic Halo 3 excursion....

Buffet wants to pay more taxes:

The United States' second-richest man has delivered a blunt message to the Bush administration: he wants to pay more tax.

So...write a check to the United States Treasury, care of the IRS

Humanity issued it's 50th "Final Wake Up Call" in the last 50 years:

With its Geo-4 report, the United Nations tells us that most aspects of the Earth's natural environment are in decline; and that the decline will affect us, the planet's human inhabitants, in some pretty important ways. Feel like you have heard it before? Of course you have, not least from the UN.

In the language of James Lovelock's Gaia theory, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that have punctuated 2007 allowed us to take the planet's temperature; Geo-4 shows us what is going on in the blood supply, the lymph system, the intestines and the immune defences.

Then there's this:

Climate change models, no matter how powerful, can never give a precise prediction of how greenhouse gases will warm the Earth, according to a new study. The result will provide ammunition to those who argue not enough is known about global warming to warrant taking action.

And this:

Worldeater Bush:

Bush responsible for California
fires:

President George Bush is playing the hero again as he tours fire-ravaged California this week. Yet his expressions of concern are not likely to be taken well, since he has stood in the way of that state's effort to fight global warming emissions for the last two years!

HitlerBurton W. McChimpstein inspects
his handiwork.

Leftists! You narrowly missed your chance to own a piece of history:

A hair lock snipped from Ernesto "Che" Guevara before his burial in 1967 sold for $100,000 at auction Thursday to a Houston-area bookstore owner who called the Marxist "one of the greatest revolutionaries of the 20th century."

Guevara, (who shot a six year boy in the head for stealing food), succumbed to Climate Change in 1967 after roughly the 12th Final Wake Up Call. Imagine the furor when Chavez dies...

Shut the fuck up Pat:

A Giuliani presidency would represent the return and final triumph of the Republicanism that conservatives went into politics to purge from power. A Giuliani presidency would represent repudiation by the party of the moral, social and cultural content that, with anti-communism, once separated it from liberal Democrats and defined it as an institution. Rudy offers the right the ultimate Faustian bargain: retention of power at the price of one's soul.

Pat offers us a Faustian bargain as well....Buchanan will probably become part of that James Dobson cabal that will run a third party candidate and hand the White House to Hillary on a silver platter. No football picks this week as I will be nowhere near internet access...

Bush lays siege to yet another Blue State:

Well, you knew this just had to happen. Fires are devastating California from North of Los Angeles down to San Diego. Hundreds of thousands of people have had to flee their homes. Disaster is an understatement. So along comes MoveOn Moonbat Senator Barbara Boxer to announce who is to blame. And who would that be? Why none other than George Bush. It would seem that President Bush has taken the time off from killing children and becoming amused as our servicemen are killed in Iraq to plot these fire strategies for California. And just how is this all Bush's fault? Why, he sent all of those California National Guardsmen to Iraq .... For his amusement, of course.

The wildfires in California are the result of....all together now:

“One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats’ comprehensive energy package.

...and of course we all know who didn't sign Kyoto. Oh, if only....sigh.

Laura McChimpHitler Bush has the courage not to sport a head scarf ala Nanci Pelosi:

Bush's trip to Saudi Arabia, her first to the oil-rich kingdom, is part of a regional tour that aims to highlight the need for countries to share resources and unite in the fight against breast cancer.

What?? No headscarf ??

Baby Hsubramoff gives $2,300 to Barack Obama:

Elrick Williams's toddler niece Carlyn may be one of the youngest contributors to this year's presidential campaign. The 2-year-old gave $2,300 to Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).
So did her sister and brother, Imara, 13, and Ishmael, 9, and her cousins Chan and Alexis, both 13. Altogether, according to newly released campaign finance reports, the extended family of Williams, a wealthy Chicago financier, handed over nearly a dozen checks in March for the maximum allowed under federal law to Obama.

Punch the bitch Condi, please, do it!!!

Here's some good news that I will be called "ignert" for pointing out:

BAGHDAD - October is on course to record the second consecutive decline in U.S. military and Iraqi civilian deaths and Americans commanders say they know why: the U.S. troop increase and an Iraqi groundswell against al-Qaida and Shiite militia extremists.

Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch points to what the military calls “Concerned Citizens” — both Shiites and Sunnis who have joined the American fight. He says he’s signed up 20,000 of them in the past four months.

“I’ve never been more optimistic than I am right now with the progress we’ve made in Iraq. The only people who are going to win this counterinsurgency project are the people of Iraq. We’ve said that all along. And now they’re coming forward in masses,” Lynch said in a recent interview at a U.S. base deep in hostile territory south of Baghdad. Outgoing artillery thundered as he spoke.

Ok guys, keep a firm grip on the Irish Spring, it's time for the Weekly Bob:

Dept Homeland Security Insanity - Immigration - Detention

This week we find Bob getting sprung (or sporting wood as it were), over Pete Stark's recent remarks on the Senate floor that most Democrats and even Stark himself have backed away from.

Air America Talk Show Host shot by Cheney and then savagely beaten by BushCo.Junta, Exxon, Halliburton, Fox News and Right Wing Talk ShowHosts whilst walking her dog:

Air America radio host Randi Rhodes is temporarily off the air, but claims she was brutally attacked near her Manhattan apartment are bogus, her lawyer and a police source said today.

Undeterred and desperately needing ratings, fellow Air America Host Jon Elliot (who appears to be part of that Democratic Underground.com /MoveOn.org /Daily Kos /Media Matters /George Soros/Hillary Rodham Soros/MyLeftWingnut  many headed beast cabal that sees America as a hideous police state with Brit Hume and Fred Barnes lurking around every corner with crowbars, mallets and nooses waiting to silence anyone who dares to speak truth to power) opined thusly:

"Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?" he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. "Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?"

...
and of course the tale grew in size and scope on the left end of the blogosphere:

"What the %$#$ is WRONG with you people?? Are you that SICK in the head that just because you don’t agree with someone’s political views you believe that they deserve to be mugged? Are you on the right that DEMENTED??," a blogger called neddlenosehanty posted on watchingthewatchers.org.

..unfortunately, a little common sense reared it ugly head:

"I very seriously doubt if this unfortunate woman was mugged by a conservative. To jump to the conclusion that she was mugged by someone on the right is bigotry of another kind. Think not?"

Brit Hume and Fred Barnes are free on one million dollars bond awaiting trial.

Imagine that! I never would'a thunk
it:

Despite the claim of a heavily publicized recent study, the sun still appears to be the main agent in global climate change, according to new research by Danish scientists.

...all this time I thought it was my car....

Nanci Pelosi resorting to back channel sabotage to end the war?:

The resolution making its way through Nancy Pelosi's House of Representatives is really starting to make some waves. What resolution? That would be the one condemning the Ottoman Empire for the massacre of Armenians almost 100 years ago. The Ottoman Empire of then would be the Turkey of now ... and the Turks are less than thrilled with this resolution.

So .. why the big rush to get this resolution passed right NOW? Aren't there more important things for the congress to attend to? Have they passed all of the budgets they are required to pass? Oops ... don't think so! But maybe there is a reason that Pelosi and the MoveOn Democrats are pushing this issue right now. Maybe they're trying to make Turkey so damned mad at us that they'll withdraw permission for our military to use their airbases and airspace in the war against Islamic fascism. Maybe, as Thomas Sowell puts it, this is pure and simple Sabotage.

This never crossed my mind ... but it seems it occurred to Jed Babbin. Is Pelosi backing this Armenian resolution thing as a way to derail our war effort in Iraq? Would she resort to something this underhanded? Why HELL YES she would! The Wall Street Journal editorial board doesn't think that this House resolution is such a good idea either.

Significant Progress?
10.15.07 (7:46 am)   [edit]
This war is lost:

The U.S. military believes it has dealt devastating and perhaps irreversible blows to al-Qaeda in Iraq in recent months, leading some generals to advocate a declaration of victory over the group, which the Bush administration has long described as the most lethal U.S. adversary in Iraq.

But as the White House and its military commanders plan the next phase of the war, other officials have cautioned against taking what they see as a premature step that could create strategic and political difficulties for the United States. Such a declaration could fuel criticism that the Iraq conflict has become a civil war in which U.S. combat forces should not be involved. At the same time, the intelligence community, and some in the military itself, worry about underestimating an enemy that has shown great resilience in the past.

"I think it would be premature at this point," a senior intelligence official said of a victory declaration over AQI, as the group is known. Despite recent U.S. gains, he said, AQI retains "the ability for surprise and for catastrophic attacks." Earlier periods of optimism, such as immediately following the June 2006 death of AQI founder Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in a U.S. air raid, not only proved unfounded but were followed by expanded operations by the militant organization.

We appear to have made some progress since that dark day of The Bookish Little Snot Merchant's apocalyptic prognosis.

Whosoever did not see this coming please raise your hand:

He can now take his place alongside Yasser Arafat and "that mean little man" Jimmy Carter:

OSLO, Norway - Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change jointly won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and to lay the foundations for fighting it.

In this file photo originally provided by Paramount Pictures Classics, Al Gore is shown in a scene from his documentary 'An Inconvenient Truth.' The film Presents the former vice president's case about the dangers of global warming. ...and to think that just a mere 30 years ago "The Consensus" was Global Cooling!

No matter, he will board his private jet,( possibly with an armed escort, consisting of a couple of F-18s, he is after all a former Vice President) arrive in Oslo, disembark from said jet, step into a Lincoln Navigator ( probably with a police escort, he is after all a former Vice President) and go accept the award, meanwhile creating a larger carbon footprint over the weekend than I will in 5 to 10 years or possibly my lifetime. Ain't it beautiful? We'll have to slaughter 5 million farting moose as a Carbon Offset in order to balance out his profligate energy consumption. How many Gingerbread Houses must collapse in order to feed his insatiable appetite for fossil fuels? I fear for our fragile planet...

The Ravages of Global Warming

The effects of climate change are devastating the planet. We've all seen the faces of those ravaged by the floods of Sri Lanka and New Orleans, but few have heard of the calamity that befell Ireland in May of 2007. The horrors of the Bush Police State:

Democrats expected to extend key wiretapping
powers:

Two months after vowing to roll back broad new wiretapping powers won by the Bush administration, Congressional Democrats appear ready to make concessions that could extend some of the key powers granted to the National Security Agency.

Bush administration officials say they are confident they will win approval of the broadened wiretapping authority that they secured temporarily in August as Congress rushed toward recess, and some Democratic officials admit that they may not come up with the votes to rein in the administration.

As the debate over the N.S.A.’s wiretapping powers begins anew this week, the emerging legislation reflects the political reality confronting the Democrats. While they are willing to oppose the White House on the conduct of the war in Iraq, they remain nervous that they will be labeled as soft on terrorism if they insist on strict curbs on intelligence gathering.

Great, now it's "intellegence gathering", obviously it's ok to do these things if it looks as though they are going to assume power in '08, they pitched a fucking fit all through ChimpHitler's presidency about "illegal" wiretapping, torture in GITMO, gulags, now they don't want to be seen as "soft on terrorism".  I wonder if this will wind up in a Springsteen song? I doubt it..

Iraqis rising against Al
Queda:

The popular uprising against al-Qa'eda by residents of Anbar Province turned former enemies into American allies earlier this year. The result was a dramatic restoration of stability across Iraq's Sunni heartland. Husaybah bears the scars of the "terrorist" years - 2004 and 2005 - when al-Qa'eda and its local allies controlled the town.

$400.00 Dollar Haircut positions himself as 2008's John Kerry:

CORYDON, Iowa - Democrat John Edwards tried to make light of Hillary Rodham Clinton's big lead in national polls Monday, saying that four years ago it looked as if Howard Dean might run away with the nomination.

Edwards, campaigning in the state that will hold leadoff caucuses in January, said his organization is much stronger than at this point in 2004 when he eventually won a surprise second-place finish.

My God, he's dreamy!!

Why is it soft pleasing Democratic Presidential Candidates will not go on FOX News but  mean spirited Republican Presidential Candidates will appear with MSDNC's Chris Matthews?

Madame Hillrod assumes the Godhead:

CONCORD, N.H. - Don Schwartz, who describes himself as "a super-Deaniac progressive type," decided to back Hillary Clinton - whose centrist views, he concedes, do not necessarily match his own - for a simple reason. He wanted, finally, to be with a winner.

If Hillary is a centrist I'm Howard Stern...

Guys, hang onto your soap: It's time for The Weekly
Bob!

Hillary And Dems - Remove your Head from your ASS!

Gore bias disclaimer in UK schools
10.03.07 (6:48 am)   [edit]
Take the little victories where you can get them:

Schools will have to issue a warning before they show pupils Al Gore's controversial film about global warming, a judge indicated yesterday. The move follows a High Court action by a father who accused the Government of 'brainwashing' children with propaganda by showing it in the classroom.

Stewart Dimmock said the former U.S. Vice-President's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and 'sentimental mush'.

Al Gore

Leave it to the British to coin a dead on accurate phrase.

Soros sock puppets demand apology from sinister Preservativ e Talk Show Host Rush Limbaugh for something he claims he didn't say:

Democrats on Monday called on the chief executive of Clear Channel Communications to denounce remarks by radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh, whom they say made a “hateful” and “unpatriotic” attack on U.S. troops opposed to the war in Iraq. At issue is a remark from Limbaugh that characterized such troops as “phony soldiers.” Democrats have seized on the issue, allowing them to hit back at Republicans who similarly latched onto a MoveOn.org ad that referred to Gen. David Petraeus as “General Betray Us.”

“Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh’s unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said in his letter to Clear Channel Chief Executive Mark Mays. “We trust you will agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends serving overseas is a ‘phony soldier.’ We call on you to publicly repudiate these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments.”

Who's calling who(m) Unpatriotic now? The phony soldier Limbaugh was talking about?:

A week ago today, ABC News, Charlie Gibson, World News Tonight, did a feature with Brian Ross, their investigative reporter, on phony soldiers!  Last Monday, one week ago today.  I don't see ABC being denounced.  Their story was on Jesse MacBeth, the same soldier I was talking about one week ago.  That video is up at RushLimbaugh.com, as well as an exposé by Brent Bozell's group, the Media Research Center, on just who Media Matters for America is.  As to Jack Murtha, I just did a story today saying that he has been sued by a soldier for calling him a murderer.  I just reported the news today, and yet this is reported as an attack on Congressman Jack Murtha.  This is Kafkaesque, it's McCarthy-like, and I think I told you this on many occasions.  My father would not believe any of this, not because of the Senate, he just wouldn't believe that his son has become the focal point of Democrats in the House of Representatives in the Senate, someone targeted for destruction and smear, as a private citizen.

Jesse Macbeth was the much ballyhooed "Iraq War Veteran" who was giving speeches about how American Soldiers were gunning down chidren at school crossings in Baghdad and laughing maniacally as they lay in pools of their own blood when in fact he was drummed out of bootcamp and never made it anywhere there was anything going on at anytime:

This whole mess starts with a clown by the name of Jesse Macbeth. Macbeth became very popular with the media earlier this year when he started telling stories about all of the hideous crimes he saw our soldiers commit while he was serving in Afghanistan and Iraq as an Army ranger. Oh, how the leftist media sopped it up. The only problem was, Macbeth was lying.

Rather than take my word for it, here's an excerpt from a release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Washington:

U.S. Attorney Jeffrey C. Sullivan today announced some of the results of "Operation Stolen Valor," a year long effort to investigate and prosecute those who lie about their military service for financial gain or other reasons.

Here's Sullivan's description of Jesse Macbeth:

*Jesse Macbeth, 23, Tacoma, Washington, sentenced today in connection with his fraudulent claims of military service. Macbeth sought medical benefits claiming to suffer from PTSD related to service in Iraq and Afghanistan, in fact, Macbeth was discharged from the Army about a month after he joined. Macbeth never traveled outside the U.S. with the Army. Macbeth duped reporters, claiming to be a decorated Army Ranger who had witnessed war crimes.

And so it goes.....

The Silence of Mr. Durbin:

US Military Deaths
Declining:

US military losses in Iraq for September stood at 70 on Sunday, the lowest monthly figure since July last year, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.

The figure also marks the fourth consecutive drop in the monthly death toll following a high of 121 in May. June saw 93 deaths, July 82 and August 79. The monthly toll in July 2006 was 53.

Two US soldiers (Nazis to Durbin supporters) were killed on Saturday in separate incidents, pushing the overall toll of American losses since the March 2003 invasion to 3,801.

A surge in US troop numbers saw an extra 28,500 personnel deployed from mid-February, mainly in Baghdad and the neighbouring province of Anbar, although commanders said most were not in combat positions until May.

US commanders say the strategy is starting to work and that levels of violence are dropping, allowing for a possible drawdown of the 160,000 or so troops now deployed.

"The trend is certainly in the right direction," US military spokesman Rear Admiral Mark Fox told a press conference in Baghdad.

"The surge unquestionably is what has been the catalyst that has created the opportunity to have more forces operating in more places at the same time and to deny Al-Qaeda and the extremists safe-haven and to take away sanctuaries."

Meanwhile, surrender efforts continue unabated...

Cubans treat man who killed a man who is a hero to many on the American Left:

Cuban doctors working in Bolivia have saved the sight of the man who executed revolutionary leader Che Guevara in 1967, Cuban official media report.  Mario Teran, a Bolivian army sergeant, shot dead Che Guevara after he was captured in Bolivia's eastern lowlands. Cuban media reported news of the surgery ahead of the 40th anniversary of Che's death on 9 October.
