Iranian Weapons Arm Iraqi Militia:
U.S. officials say they have found smoking-gun evidence of Iranian support for terrorists in Iraq: brand-new weapons fresh from Iranian factories. According to a senior defense official, coalition forces have recently seized Iranian-made weapons and munitions that bear manufacturing dates in 2006.
This suggests, say the sources, that the material is going directly from Iranian factories to Shia militias, rather than taking a roundabout path through the black market. "There is no way this could be done without (Iranian) government approval," says a senior official.
Iran is involved in funding the militias? I had no idea. Wow. UN "Peacekeeper" Sex Scandal:
Nearly 180 soldiers, civilians and police in UN peacekeeping missions have been targeted for disciplinary action since the beginning of 2004 for sexual abuse and exploitation and the problem persists, a UN spokesman said Thursday. Despite the UN's “zero tolerance,” Stephane Dujarric said, “acts of sexual exploitation and abuse by UN peacekeeping personnel continue to occur.” “Sexual exploitation and abuse by UN personnel is unacceptable,” he said. “Over the past two years, it's been clear that we have redoubled our efforts ... to prevent these acts from happening, to discipline those who are responsible and to bring assistance to the victims. But we obviously have a ways to go.” The UN peacekeeping department instituted the new policy last year following an investigation that found peacekeepers in Congo had sex with Congolese women and girls, usually in exchange for food or small sums of money. Cases of sexual abuse have also been reported in other peacekeeping missions from Bosnia and Kosovo to Cambodia, East Timor and West Africa.
While most of this was going on all we heard about in America was Abu Ghraib, Abu Ghraib, Abu Ghraib, GITMO, GITMO, GITMO, our soldiers are Nazi torturers.
Democrats already distancing themselves from themselves:
It was a solemn pledge, repeated by Democratic leaders and candidates over and over: If elected to the majority in Congress, Democrats would implement all of the recommendations of the bipartisan commission that examined the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.But with control of Congress now secured, Democratic leaders have decided for now against implementing the one measure that would affect them most directly: a wholesale reorganization of Congress to improve oversight and funding of the nation's intelligence agencies. Instead, Democratic leaders may create a panel to look at the issue and produce recommendations, according to congressional aides and lawmakers.
Mr. Ed Kills One:
Bob Redford's group picks a documentary on man horse sex controversy:
The Sundance Film Festival announced Wednesday that Seattle filmmaker Robinson Devor's documentary "Zoo" has been accepted into the 2007 festival's documentary competition. The film examines the widely reported case of an Enumclaw man who died in 2005 after having sex with a horse. "Zoo" is one of 16 documentaries selected for competition (out of 856 submitted), all of which will screen as world premieres. Devor has had two previous films at Sundance: the made-in-Seattle drama "Police Beat," and "The Woman Chaser." The Sundance Film Festival will take place Jan. 18-28 in Park City, Utah.
Throw this one in with the "Oversight Promise:"
Democrats have long attacked President Bush for the historic tax cuts he ushered through Congress during his first term and have promised to reverse at least some of them. B ut among their top priorities when they take over Congress next month is passing a permanent tax cut of their own. I ncluded in their "Six for '06" platform that they say helped them win majorities in the House and Senate, Democrats promised to: "Make college tuition deductible from taxes, permanently." T heir tax cut promise is neither an election-year gimmick, Democrats say, nor a reversal in their long-standing opposition to Mr. Bush's tax cuts.
Speaker to be Flower Power and Beads: There is no Al Qaeda in Iraq!!
"the 9/11 Commission dismissed that notion a long time ago and I feel sad that the president is resorting to it again."
Al Qaeda in Iraq:
BAGHDAD: Four bombs rocked Baghdad Saturday, as the eyes of Iraq's government and insurgents battling it were turned to Washington, where generals have begun a re-think of strategy in the war-ravaged country.
At least 18 people were killed across Iraq, nine of them in the capital. A car bomb and a roadside bomb exploded in a market in Baghdad's Hafidh al-Qadi area, killing six civilians and wounding 32 others, a security source was quoted as saying.
Two more roadside bombs exploded in Baghdad, killing two and wounding five, while three Iraqis were also reported killed in Baquba, northeast of Baghdad.
Two policemen, including an intelligence officer were also shot dead, while a Christian translator working for the US forces was abducted.
The latest casualties were added to the list of nearly 100 Iraqis killed in the past four days, and with more than 20 US soldiers killed since the start of November.
They come on the heels of threats from Al-Qaeda in Iraq chief Abu Hamza al-Muhajer on Friday, including one to blow up the White House.

Santa is a religious icon and should be destroyed:
Warwick — Frosty the Snowman is sharing top billing this year with Santa at Sanfordville Elementary School’s annual “Breakfast with Santa.” But the event won’t be billed as “Breakfast with Santa” anymore.
This year, the theme has been changed to a “Winter Wonderland Breakfast,” sparked by one parent wanting to exclude religious inference and include all students.
...grind him under the Iron Heels of Political Correctness, serves him right the fat bastard! One of the Imams taken off a Minneapolis plane last month for suspicious behavior "prayi ng and fanning out in a pattern reminiscent of terrorist tactics" may have ties to terrorism:
Omar Shahin, one of six imams removed from a flight last week, says he has traveled the country since the September 11 attacks to promote understanding of the Muslim religion, but he once worked for a group linked to terrorist financing. He insists that the terrorists who leveled the World Trade Center were not Muslims.

North Korea eradicates AIDS.
SEOUL (Reuters) - North Korea has relied on the wise leadership of Kim Jong-il to make sure there have been no outbreaks of AIDS in the reclusive country, its official media reported on Friday.

Retro Parody: From February '06: Washington D.C.- Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D) Nevada, mistakenly ingested an RU 486 tablet, the controversial "morning after pill" while on vacation in Ghana last year and had to have 7 to 9 feet of intestine forcibly re-inserted through his rectum by a local witch doctor say sources close to the Senator. The Senate Minority leader was quick to blame the Bush Administration, the Bush Tax Cuts, lack of universal health care, the NSA, the CIA, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Wolfowitz, Art Bell, No Child Left Behind, the "Republican Culture of Corruption", Halliburton and Jack Abramoff who financed the trip. Boy George was unavailable for comment.
