John Travolta implores us to do our part to combat Climate Change:
His serious aviation habit means he is hardly the best person to lecture others on the environment. But John Travolta went ahead and did it anyway. The 53-year-old actor, a passionate pilot, encouraged his fans to "do their bit" to tackle global warming. But although he readily admitted: "I fly jets", he failed to mention he actually owns five, along with his own private runway. Clocking up at least 30,000 flying miles in the past 12 months means he has produced an estimated 800 tons of carbon emissions – nearly 100 times the average Briton's tally.

Ok...I guess I'll get my Space Shuttle out of the carport. Notice how green the grass is in the surrounding environs, perhaps all those carbon emissions are good for his lawn.
British Soldiers seized by Iran may be tried for crossing into Iraqi waters:
Iran's ambassador to Russia renewed a threat Iranian officials made earlier this week, saying 15 British sailors held by Iran could be tried for violating international law, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported Saturday. Gholam-Reza Ansari told Russian television Vesti-24 on Friday that Iran had launched a legal investigation of the British sailors. "They will be tried if there is enough evidence of guilt," Ansari was quoted by IRNA as saying.
And this is all they are going to do in response:
BREMEN, Germany (Reuters) - Britain said on Saturday it was concerned at Iranian "saber-rattling" ; about possibly putting captured British naval personnel on trial and for the first time voiced regret that the incident had occurred.
Flip flop:
MCCAIN'S (R)Arizona, Memory:
'I was approached by Kerry to run as his running mate and I rejected it out of hand'...
McCain Said VP Slot 'Was Never Offered' By Kerry...
McCain Said 'Obviously, I Would Entertain' Running With Kerry...
Somebody's having a senior moment..or several of them. Nanci does Syria:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will visit Syria, a country President Bush has shunned as a sponsor of terrorism, despite being asked by the administration not to go. "In our view, it is not the right time to have these sort of high- profile visitors to Syria," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters Friday. Pelosi arrived in Israel on Friday in what is her second fact-finding trip to the Middle East since taking over leadership in the House in January. Her repeat trip, an indication she plans to play a role in foreign policy, is also a direct affront to the administration, which says such diplomatic overtures by lawmakers can do more harm than good.
If she needs that gigantic ass plane of her's that stirred up so much controversy recently just to get across the country in style, imagine what she's using now, probably 10 of them. Carbon Footprint dearheart, Carbon Footprint...
Ah! The institution of marriage:
BERLIN (Reuters) - A man shot dead his ex-wife in a busy terminal building at Stuttgart airport as she prepared to take a flight, police said on Saturday. The 31-year-old man fired several shots, killing his 25-year-old former wife and injuring a male bystander, a police spokeswoman from the nearby town of Esslingen said. Both the man and his ex-wife were of Serbian origin. The woman had intended to take a flight for Pristina, the capital of Serbia's breakaway province of Kosovo. The gunman fled after the shooting but was caught by police officers in the airport car park. The motive for the shooting was unclear.
Much ado about nothing continues:
President Bush isn't rushing to the rescue of his old Texas friend, Alberto Gonzales, after the attorney general's one-time lieutenant undercut his old boss' account of the firings of eight federal prosecutors. Rather than merely signing off on the firings, as Gonzales has repeatedly stated, his former chief of staff says the attorney general was in the middle of things from the beginning.
The "Date Certain for Surrender" bill rolls on:
Senate Democrats ignored a veto threat and pushed through a bill Thursday requiring President Bush to start withdrawing troops from "the civil war in Iraq," dealing a rare, sharp rebuke to a wartime commander in chief. In a mostly party line 51-47 vote, the Senate signed off on a bill providing $122 billion to pay for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It also orders Bush to begin withdrawing troops within 120 days of passage while setting a nonbinding goal of ending combat operations by March 31, 2008.
..and in the rarified air that is D.C., a Senator actually said something that made sense:
"Surely this will embolden the enemy and it will not help our troops in any way," said Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama.
