$400.00 Haircut in 2001:

"We will be united with the president throughout this war on terrorism"

$400.00 Haircut in 2007:

The U.S.-led war on terrorism is "a bumper sticker, not a plan" that has weakened Washington's global standing, Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said on Wednesday as he unveiled his defense policy plans.

At least he's consistent with the rest of his party. Democrats retreat from surrender:

Democratic presidential contenders on Capitol Hill will cast critical votes on the Iraq war this week, when lawmakers decide on a $120 billion bill to keep military operations afloat through September. The House planned to vote Thursday with the Senate to follow suit by week's end.

Joe Biden gestures with "clean, articulate man."

Lynne and Dick Cheney give birth to lesbian baby in a secret ceremony on the moon:

Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, became a mother today when she gave birth to a baby boy. Samuel David Cheney was born at 9:46 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces, at Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Samuel is the sixth grandchild for Vice President Cheney. "The vice president is pleased to be a grandfather for the sixth time," spokeswoman Megan McGinn said.  According to reports, Mary's homosexual partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, "will have no legal relationship with her child. She can't adopt as a second parent. She won't have her name on the birth certificate." Rosie O' Donnell called the birth an abomination, unhinged her sizeable jaw and ate Barbara Walters.

Harsh wording from World Net Daily...

Salt of the Earth sends Rogers an apology note:

Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania sent a note of apology to Republican Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan Wednesday, the day after a divided House denied Rogers a vote to officially reprimand the powerful senior Democrat.

Murtha apologized for his "outburst" in a handwritten note Rogers received Wednesday morning, the latter's office confirmed. This marks his first acknowledgement of an episode between the two lawmakers on the House floor.

Last week, the powerful Democrat allegedly threatened to deny Rogers any future spending projects in defense bills after the Michigan Republican challenged his earmark request for $23 million to prevent the administration from closing an intelligence gathering facility in his western Pennsylvania district. Republicans have called the tirade a flagrant abuse of House rules. Members and aides on both sides of the aisle continued to speculate that Rogers or another Republican will eventually call on the ethics committee to formally investigate last week's flap, even after Tuesday's partyline vote to prevent debate.

Very, very bad:

WASHINGTON--With only months left on a moratorium restricting state governments from taxing Internet access, the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday began a debate over whether the ban should be made permanent or allowed to lapse.

At issue is the scheduled expiration on November 1 of a law, initially enacted in 1998, that says local governments generally cannot tax Internet access, including DSL (digital subscriber line), cable modem and BlackBerry-type wireless transmission services. The law also prohibits governments from taxing items sold online in a different manner than those sold at brick-and-mortar stores, but it does not deal with sales taxes on online shopping.

That's the way it should remain, some politicians said at a brief hearing here convened by a House of Representatives panel on commercial and administrative law.

Imagine the tax revenues yielded from Al's internet use alone...

...still a very bad idea.
Big King Tummy Scarf gets 15 minute standing "O" at Cannes:

Well, as you may have read by now, our premiere of "Sicko" at the Cannes Film Festival has been an overwhelming success. The 2,000 people inside the Lumiere Theater were alternately in tears and laughing during the two-hour film -- and when it was over, they gave it a standing ovation that seemed to go on for nearly 15 minutes! Many came up to me and said (and critics seem to agree) that this is my best film yet. I don't know about that, and it seems weird to compare any of these movies in the first place. But I do feel safe in saying that I am very, very happy with this film and I can't wait to show it to you when it opens on June 29th.

Why do I get the feeling he's going to be instrumental in the destruction of our health care system, it has it's problems, but if Moore has his way, I'll go to the doctor for a routine check up and wind up with my colon sewn to my spleen ala Fidel Castro....but hey, it'll be free. Can't beat that.

Seems I heard, sometime and somewhere, this would be the most transparent and ethical Congress in history. Where did I hear that, and from whom? Surely not the party of Murtha, which with a party-line vote refused to consider his breach of ethical behavior. It is a sad reality that these guys are able to be re-elected most easily, not by legislating what is best in service to our nation, but by "bringing home the bacon". Now wonder Murth was upset- his access to the sizeable teat of the government was threatened with a temporary block.

They are trying to resurrect the glory days where they had a 40 yr. lock on the majority. Behavior like that is how they maintained it for so long...
